Define the function first
A sphere may be a decorative accent, part of an entrance group, a repeating landscape element or a physical vehicle-control object. Similar appearance does not mean the same construction. A garden ornament and an element beside traffic have different risks, support requirements and design responsibility.
The NIKA GRAN granite-sphere page shows the product type. The actual diameter, holes, embedded parts and finish belong in a drawing or specification.
| Question | What to approve | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Function | decoration, wayfinding or access control | determines construction requirements |
| Scale | diameter and quantity in facade context | one sphere reads differently in a large space |
| Stone | type and current batch sample | natural colour and pattern vary |
| Finish | polished, honed, thermal or other | changes appearance and cleaning method |
| Support | designed base, contact area, possible anchoring | affects stability and the surface below |
| Delivery | actual product weight, equipment and access | determines safe handling |
The table is a checklist, not a ready structural design.
Diameter and proportion
Do not select diameter from a photograph alone. Prepare a scaled plan and elevation, place spheres on the drawing and check clear routes. Beside an entrance group, an element must not conflict with doors, ramps, steps or escape paths. In a landscape, consider maintenance equipment and drainage.
Where spheres form a row, approve centre spacing and permitted product variation. Natural pattern can differ even where diameters are equal.
Base and anchoring
This article does not specify a foundation and is not an installation manual. The designer considers the actual sphere weight, supporting construction, frost and water conditions, possible contact by people or vehicles and operational use. An anchoring detail from another manufacturer’s catalogue cannot be transferred to a NIKA GRAN product without verification.
The cited commercial article about decorative granite spheres discusses placement and handling, but does not document a bollard anchoring system or protective performance. Confirm fixing design and any traffic-restriction function through separate technical documentation.
Stone and finish
Polishing emphasises pattern, but exterior use requires an agreed maintenance and ageing expectation. A honed or thermal finish appears calmer or more textured. Compare physical samples from the current batch and do not demand absolute uniformity from natural stone.
Spheres can be combined with stone fences, steps or paving slabs, but joints, levels and loads belong in one design. Check separately that the element does not create a hazard for visually impaired people and that the required clear route remains.
Information needed for a product quotation
- Site plan and photographs.
- Function of each sphere.
- Indicative diameter and quantity.
- Selected stone and finish.
- Base drawing or designer requirements.
- Need for holes or embedded parts.
- Access, lifting and unloading conditions.
NIKA GRAN manufactures stone products to an agreed specification, but this page does not claim a universal installation service or ready-made foundation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best granite-sphere diameter?
There is no universal diameter. Check it at site scale with function, clear routes and architecture.
Can a sphere simply be placed on paving?
Do not decide this without design. Check the base, contact load, stability and movement risk.
Does NIKA GRAN install granite spheres?
This article covers preparation of a product specification and does not claim a universal installation service. Scope is agreed separately.
