Stone weight and quantity calculator

The calculator works out the weight, area, volume and quantity of granite, gabbro and labradorite products from the dimensions you enter. Weight is volume multiplied by the typical density of the stone, so the result is an estimate: density varies in natural stone even within one deposit, and the weight of a batch is confirmed when you order.

For reference: granite as a rock type — 2,650–2,750 kg/m³ (2,700 typical); gabbro as a rock type — 2,700–3,400 kg/m³. These are broad reference ranges; prefer deposit values or your batch certificate.

What to keep in mind

The density values shown are typical ranges for the stone type, not a guarantee for a specific batch. The actual weight of a batch is confirmed when the order is placed. A specification is required for precise calculations, load assessments and project documentation.

These are example formats for an indicative calculation, not a stock list: the format, tolerances and the actual density of the batch are confirmed before production. Calculated at a typical density of 2,730 kg/m³; for a different density, enter your own dimensions in the calculator above.

Frequently asked questions

How does the calculator work out stone weight?

Weight = volume × density. Dimensions in millimetres are converted to metres, and the volume of one piece is multiplied by the stone density in kg/m³. For example, a 300×300×30 mm granite tile at 2,730 kg/m³ weighs about 7.37 kg. The result is an estimate, because the density of a specific batch may differ from the typical value.

How many tiles or setts are there in 1 m² and in 1 tonne?

Pieces per 1 m² = 1 / (length × width in metres); for 300×300 mm this is about 11 pcs/m². Pieces per 1 tonne = 1,000 kg / weight of one piece. For paving with joints, the joint width is added to the dimensions, which reduces the number of pieces per m².

How do I estimate weight for delivery and loading?

Add up the weight of every order line — the calculator shows the total weight in kilograms and tonnes. That gives an estimated load for choosing transport and calculating pallets. The exact batch weight and packing plan are confirmed by our manager once the order is put together.
